Ten years ago today, a very special game by Double Fine Productions was released. While it’s initial physical sales were severely underwhelming, thanks to digital distribution it’s since become a cult classic amongst videogames with many dedicated fans and more people discovering it even today.
I’ve only been a fan of it for around eight of those years, but this game has been a huge influence to me in regards to how I see storytelling, character design, gameplay, and so much more. I’ve met amazing people through this single game that I’ll remember for the rest of my life and I’m forever grateful for it. It’s helped me improve my art and taught me to work outside of what I was familiar with to become a better artist. I wish I could have done a much more involved image for this special occasion, but hopefully this little piece will still get my undying appreciation for this game across. It’s been in my list of all time favorite games for years and I’m sure it’ll be there for many more.
Happy 10th Anniversary, Psychonauts! You’ll forever be in our hearts and minds!
